Connectivity management platform

A service that lets an enterprise manage SIMs and cellular subscriptions for a device fleet: activation, data plans, usage monitoring and diagnostics.

A connectivity management platform is the control panel for cellular IoT. Through its web interface and API an operator can activate or suspend thousands of SIMs, assign rate plans, set usage alerts, see which devices are attached to which network and diagnose a unit that has stopped reporting. Mobile operators and MVNOs offer CMPs, and some device management tools integrate with them.

The platform matters because connectivity cost and availability are ongoing operational concerns. A device stuck in a retry loop can burn its monthly data allowance in hours, and a CMP rule that caps usage or alerts on it prevents that. With eSIM support, a CMP can also switch a device to another carrier remotely when coverage or pricing changes.
