1X Technologies develops NEO, a humanoid robot for household chores that US customers can pre-order to buy outright or by monthly subscription. NEO uses the company’s Redwood AI model, carries an onboard computer based on NVIDIA Jetson Thor and connects over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 5G. For tasks it cannot yet do alone, 1X staff can guide it remotely in sessions the owner books. The company began in Norway in 2014 as Halodi Robotics and is now based in Palo Alto.
